And here is the video from last week!

SMURF Results from 6/17

There was some movement with SMURF ratings, but the leaders still held in there. Good Job!

Remember that each Wednesday evening after the races, MRYC is open to come watch the videos shot on the course, enjoy dinner, and see the results. There are even trophies for the nightly first place winners!

I sure didn't think we would get a race off last night! Crazy winds always make it iffy.

Congratulations to Kimber Rosswork and crew on the Viper 640 for a fast night last night coming in first in A class. Also having a great night coming in first was Pagan in the B class and Ninotchka in the Stars.

SMURF Results from 6/10

Once again, the A class did not see much change with the SMURF ratings, but B class - Wow!

Congratulations to Taaris for a fast night! A 2-minute lead is nothing to sneeze at.

That was a fun race last night! Warm, sunny, and the wind wasn't too crazy. The short course with several legs made for some interesting sailing, although the winds are switching around to the Southwest, so we can expect lighter winds and hotter temps. I guess summer is here.

Congratulations to Ostinato in the A class for a first place finish. Even short legs doesn't seem to slow her down. We had a new boat out on the course for the A class last night too - Chauntecler. Welcome! She looks like she could be fast.

Congrats also to Ful Dek in the B class and to Wish in the Stars. Great sailing for first place finishes. Taaris seems to be a trouble maker now coming in second in B class. Not to be discounted as troublemakers, the Star class had lots of fun at the start with the shifty winds. Should be a fun video once it renders.

SMURF results from 6/3

In the SMURF, Ostinato was able to hold on to her lead of 3 seconds, but big changes in the B class. Moonraker seems to have found her point of sail coming in a whopping 4 minutes in the lead corrected!

Congratulations to everyone who came out and braved the storm warnings. Turned out to be nothing.

People often ask what site I use for storm prediction. My choice is http://www.intellicast.com/, but they are all good.

What's with this stormy weather? Last week was cancelled for storms and this week was just cold and wet. At least there was wind!

Congratulations to Ostinato for a fast race. She managed to stay ahead and correct just 3 seconds over Redbeard racing non-spin behind her. Lots of fast sailing in B class too with Ful Dek coming in 1st again. Measuring in at 7.126 nm, this was our longest course. That's as long as the Jimmy Wilson race.

The Star class has lots of interesting shifts in the wind and the order on the short course. Congratulations to Mike Keene and John Jenkins for a fast race.

Mark Boat 2015 - creative solutions needed

Hi sailors and friends!

A hearty thanks to the few of you who have proactively signed up for mark boat duty on our sign-up page (link below).

Bowie Rose, long-standing supporter of WNR, is taking some time away from these duties and will not be the boat and mark boat captain as he has in the past.

This means that for WNR mark boat duty, we need crew who can operate loaner boats (CBMM has graciously offered the use of a carolina skiff, and the MYRC Junior Sail Program has options), or who have access to / can provide a powerboat.

Please help us think of a way to ensure our WNR series keeps thriving! Send your thoughts and creative suggestions to me at sailinggal71@gmail.com.

WNR Mark Boat Signup Page

PS - We have 2 crew ready & willing for this Weds June 3. They just need a boat/driver!
