Fri Nov 21st, 6:30-10:30pm at Miles River Yacht Club.

A hoe down's happening! Complete with Kim Forry, Dance Caller Extraordinaire + Charm City Junction, a 4-piece bluegrass band. Dust off your boots and come celebrate Friendsgiving. MRYC is happy to host Doug Frazee, Elle Carberry, and our guests for our private party. Max capacity is 100. Lite fare. Cash bar. Monetary contributions help fund the Musicians/Artists.

RSVP via the link above or simply replying here.
And, please don't hesitate to invite your friends to join you!!

"Baltimore-based roots group Charm City Junction puts a new spin on old-timey music, carrying the torch of fast-picking bluegrass and toe-tapping Celtic music. Featuring fiddle, clawhammer banjo, the button accordion, and upright bass, this quartet isn’t afraid to take roots music to new places — but always with an eye on tradition." - Washington Post.

Looking forward to dancing and welcoming in the Holidays, together!!

Awards Friday!

Awards Party is on Friday!

Remember that the awards party is this Friday, October 25th, at 6 pm at Higgins Yacht Yard. It will be a great time! What do you need to know?

Beverages: There will be some beer. If you have a favorite drink to share, bring it with you. We will have coolers available.

Food: We're serving pulled pork sandwiches! If you like pulled pork, you are set. We hope to have plenty for everyone. Just kick in $5; you don't need to bring any other food.

Pot Luck: Do you have a favorite dish you want to bring? We'd love to try it! Bring a dessert, a side, or a vegetarian option. The party is more fun when there are lots of food options.

Oysters: The Star Class is providing Oysters! Lots on the half-shell. Watch out for Corbin's oyster shooters.

Music: Three Penny Opera is playing! Music all night. Come on out and enjoy.

Friends: More people means more fun. Tell all your sailing friends that they are invited. We're happy to have sailors from all over the community!

Wednesday Night Racing Awards!

It's the time of year for awards. Let's get together and celebrate the season of racing! Who is welcome? Anyone who sailed on Wednesday night is definitely welcome, but also invite your friends. Do you know people who like to sail (even cruise)? Invite them! How about those power boaters? Sure, invite them! This is a party for all those people who love the water - And we will hand out some awards.

When: October 20th at 6 p.m.
Where: Higgins Yacht Yard (205 Carpenter Street)
What to bring:
It's BYOB, so bring some of your favorite beverage
    And Pot Luck!
Does your last name start with A-G? Bring a dessert
Does your last name start with H-M? Bring an entree
Does your last name start with N-Z? Bring a salad or side
If you need something to serve your dish, bring that too

We will provide some paper products and plastic ware. If your dish requires something other than standard stuff to eat it, you should bring that. Finger foods are often best! You don't need to bring enough to feed a Navy. Just enough for 5-10 to enjoy.

Remember that your skipper is terrible at communicating. If you're reading this, you should pass the word to all your crew and other friends!

Do you have a perpetual trophy for WNR at home? I'd love to have those back. Where is that lighthouse?

Last Night is the Best Dressed Contest

The Race Committee will be dressed up as a real race committee for the last race of the year. Nothing like blue blazers to class up the race!

Are you dressing up for the last race? I know many boats will be decorating their boats and putting on costumes for the last race. It's always good fun. If you dress up, sail past the RC and tell us your theme. Sometimes it's obvious, but not always. We also like to take some photos!

Don't forget - The awards party is on October 20th at 6 pm. We will be at Higgins Yacht Yard. It's BYOB, so feel free to invite your sailing friends to come party!

Awards tomorrow

Remember, the awards are tomorrow at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in the Boatshop.

Everything starts at 6 pm.

This is a potluck event, so bring your favorite food and drink!

The weather looks nice with temps about 60º and light wind. We should be able to stay warm with little effort. Dress appropriate for outside.

Oct 17, 2022

Awards Friday!

Friday isn't far away. The awards are at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in the Boatshop.

Everything starts at 6 pm.

This is a potluck event, so we are not charging for food or drinks.

  • If your last name begins with an A-J, you should bring a dessert/salad
  • If your last name begins with a K-Z, you should bring an appetizer
  • If you make something special to you, you can bring that instead
  • If you need something special to serve your food, bring it
  • We will have some beer, but bring your favorite drink!
Making a little extra food is always good, but don't bring tons. If everyone brings food for ten, we'll have to take a lot of food home!

Last year, some people had trouble finding the boatshop. It's a very large building next to the railway and the main entrance. Look for a building with large barn doors, boats under construction inside, and signs saying Boatshop. You're probably in the wrong place if you don't see other people and equipment to build a boat.

The temp will drop quickly, so prepare to stay warm. It should be a fun evening. Hope you can make it!
