Hi Everyone,

Great sailing last night. I wish the wind had stayed with us, but at least it was a nice evening.

Congratulations to Spencer sailing with Bob on the Star Lil' Buddy for coming in first last night. Light wind apparently didn't stop them! Ostinato and crew had a great race last night too.  And Ful Dek, but you knew that.

Now is a good time to check your season standing to see if there are any errors. I'm just typing stuff here, so errors are completely possible.

If you see a square in Blue, that just means you were credited for doing mark boat. Even if you race, you can get credit for sending people on mark boat. You might also see a square highlighted in yellow. That is just a reminder for me that a throw-out is for a race other than a DNC. I check them each week.

Remember costumes!

Remember that the Race Committee has a special award for the "Best Dressed" crew on the last evening of the year. Always fun for those people who like to dress up.

Our last race is on October 2nd. If you're interested, we'd love to see you out there in a fun costume of your choice. You don't have to dress up. We will score your race the same, costume or not. But you could also compete for the awesome checkered "Best Dressed" jacket!

Good Times!

Nice temperature, nice humidity, nice sunset, Crazy Wind! I don't know what was going on with those wind shifts last night. Up to the north and then back down to the east. Pretty much pot luck every leg of the course!

It was great to see Bob's new boat out there last night. The new J/99, La Cinquieme, was out there on the starting line. They even came across the finish line getting the gun. Yay!

Congratulations to Joni and Ray for coming in first in the Star class. They were off for a few weeks, but it didn't seem to affect their performance! Also having a great race coming in first was John and the crew on Javelin in the A class as well as the crew on Ful Dek in the B class!

Thanks for working on videos, Bucky! If we're lucky, we'll have a system down for videos sometime mid-October.

Results from 9/4 Jimmy Wilson Race

What great fun! An excellent evening with plenty of wind. Most everyone made it around the 6.8-mile course in about 1½ hours just before the rain came in for the evening. I think Mr. Jimmy would be happy to see the fleets racing.

We were trying to remember earlier the name of the race before it was renamed for Mr. Jimmy. It was the Bigelow Race and it was started by Mr. Jimmy and Ms. Jeannie in order for the Log Canoe Association to be part of CBYRA. Over the years I remember Magic racing in it several times and I think I remember Jay Dee racing too. After CBYRA stopped requiring the race, Mr. Jimmy loved and continued to run the race for years.

The downwind start for the race is always exciting. Amazingly, no one was over early, but people were definitely riding the line. The logic for the evening seemed to be to go counter-clockwise around the island, but we couldn't get close enough to see if it paid off.

Congratulations to Sean Callahan and crew on Bellatrix for a first-place finish in the A class. It was fun to see a Melges 24 on the course. Also having a great race finishing first was Tim and Tim on Tim's Boat in the Star class as well as Ful Dek in the B class.
