Wind's going North, no East, no North, or ...
Okay. In July, the wind is supposed to be from the SW. Once you mess with the prevailing winds, strange things happen. And we certainly saw that! At least we were racing and it wasn't too hot. Let's call it even.
Still plenty of good racing out there. Congratulations to Jeff Bates and crew on Honey Honey for a great race and first-place finish! They managed to find some good shifts out there and covered the handicap. Also having a great night was Matt and Eric on Maddie in the Star class as well as the crew on Javelin. Good stuff all around.

7/17 Too Hot! Cancelled
Hi Everyone,
Unfortunately, we're going to have to cancel for tonight. There might be some wind, but the heat index is too high for us to be out there for any length of time.
We also seem to be down two committee boats last minute and that makes things just a bit complicated.
Sorry for canceling. We'll make it up to you with lots of great weather in the fall!

Great job out there last night! Everyone had reasonable starts with no one crowding the line. That let us get everyone started on time to make for a nice evening. And it was great out there! The Stars were able to get in a nice long race with reasonable wind over the evening. The PHRF boats were able to get in a 5.9 nm race with plenty of spinnaker work. All in all, just a great night to be out there.
The PHRF boats were out in force last night with 7 in each class. That was great to see and I'm certainly glad I made the starting line long. Congratulations to the crew on Javelin and the crew on Ful Dek for first place finishes! With all the spinnaker sets and gybes, there was plenty to do out there. I hope we didn't interfere with beer consumption.
The Stars has a race that lasted just over an hour which is great. We usually can't do that on a Wednesday with bad wind direction or strength. Even with all that racing, it was still pretty tight right up to the finish. Congratulations to Palmer and Gauthier on Star 8024 for a first place finish!
And last night was the first all-girl Star team we remember in a while. Watch out, boys! Between Sewell, Ali, and Joni, you're in trouble!

Good fun! Mark them on your calendars. Note that we Start the Mr. Jimmy earlier than normal!

Are we racing?
Yep!
There seems to be confusion about racing on 7/3. We're racing.
Last year we did not have races on July 4th because that would be crazy. July 4th this year is on Thursday, so there is no overlap with Wednesday Night Racing. We can race in peace.
See you out there!
