Awards Friday!

Awards Party is on Friday!

Remember that the awards party is this Friday, October 25th, at 6 pm at Higgins Yacht Yard. It will be a great time! What do you need to know?

Beverages: There will be some beer. If you have a favorite drink to share, bring it with you. We will have coolers available.

Food: We're serving pulled pork sandwiches! If you like pulled pork, you are set. We hope to have plenty for everyone. Just kick in $5; you don't need to bring any other food.

Pot Luck: Do you have a favorite dish you want to bring? We'd love to try it! Bring a dessert, a side, or a vegetarian option. The party is more fun when there are lots of food options.

Oysters: The Star Class is providing Oysters! Lots on the half-shell. Watch out for Corbin's oyster shooters.

Music: Three Penny Opera is playing! Music all night. Come on out and enjoy.

Friends: More people means more fun. Tell all your sailing friends that they are invited. We're happy to have sailors from all over the community!

Check Season Results

I'm finishing the season results, and I hope you can help me check them. Here they are:

What could be wrong? Mark boat is one item. Did you do Mark Boat, and I instead scored you and DNC? Well, that could happen. I try to double-check.

I could also mess up the throwout for each series. I think they're right, but you never know.

Do a quick check to be sure I have:
  • your correct finishes
  • your mark boat night
  • your throwout
  • my math correct
Odereing trophies next. Let's get them right the first time!

Don't forget the party - October 25th, 6 pm, at Higgins Yacht Yard.
Food - drinks - music - friends - awards!

Winds around 10 knots, cool temps, and the rain held off. Beautiful sailing! Of course, the sun went down fast with the cloud cover. That's okay. It was still a great night to be out there.

Results from 5/22

It was a beautiful night for racing! We used the 12-knot wind ratings for the handicap boats. There were plenty of gusts over 12, but we averaged around 12.

Congratulations to Marty and crew on Bella for a first-place finish in the cruising class. Also having a great night coming in first was Jeff and crew on Ostinato, as well as Matt and Eric on Manipulator.

You can see all the results >HERE<

Results from 5/15

Once again, we had a beautiful night of racing! You've got to love 8 knots of wind. With a low-angle spinnaker run to Gibson Flats, most of the handicap boats flew down the course. We had all the handicap boats finished before the Stars, but everyone finished by 7:15.

Congratulations to Jeff Staley and the crew on Ostinato on their first-place finish last night. Matt and Eric on Manipulator in the Stars and the crew on Ful Dek in the cruising class also had a great night, finishing first.

You can trade with each other. That's fine. Send me an email to let me know. You can also get a friend or family member to do it for you. It's all good as long as we have a mark boat.

You are responsible for getting a mark boat out for your week. Bring your sailboat or another boat to do the mark boat.

You can read about how to do mark boat >HERE<

Yay! It was a nice night to be out sailing!

Congratulations to Nick and the crew on Cordelia on their first-place finish in the cruising class last night. Joni and Ray in the Stars and unPhaseD in the racing class also had a great night.

You can see all the results >here<

May 2, 2024

Results from 5/1

After waiting for the wind, we did get in a start just before 7pm. Unfortunately, we could only finish the Stars. Still, it's nice to be on the water!

You can see the results >HERE<

I'm still figuring out how to use the software, so it might still show the handicap boats getting points for DNC. That's obviously not true. We abandoned, so you will get no points. I'll figure it out. The season results will be accurate regardless.

Handicap boats will also notice that we're doing some shadow scoring using ORC and EZ when a boat has a certificate in those systems. This should give us more data as the season goes on!

Get your boats ready - We have to get some good spring wind here soon!

Join us at the Club after racing

Every Wednesday after racing, we have results and nightly first trophies. Of course, there is also dinner and drinks.

This week, the Club is setting out nachos as well as specials.

Join us after racing this Wednesday to celebrate the start of the summer sailing season!

Sometimes email doesn't work

Hum...

It seems like the emails do not always get sent on time. I don't know what that's about. I'm trying something new. I hope you don't get many new emails all at once, but that might be better than none.

If you're wondering why you haven't seen an email from me, there is a good chance that it just didn't send. You can always look at the website for the latest information.

You can see the website here:

You could bookmark it, just in case. I always post results by 2 pm on Thursdays.

Sign up for Mark Boat

It's time to sign up for mark boat duty!

Everyone can do mark boat duty. If you are in the top half of your class, you must sign up for mark boat duty.

What do you need?
  • A boat - I see you out there in your boat. I know you have one.
  • A crew - usually two people works best.
  • Patience - It takes a bit of time, but we have fun!

Sign up >HERE<

You will receive an average score for the series if you serve as mark boat. That way, you will not be hurt by doing mark boat!

You can get a friend to do mark boat for you. You're responsible for getting someone out there in a boat to help set marks.

I will start assigning boats if you don't sign up by May 1st. Pick your favorite week now by picking it yourself!
