You've got to love fall on the Chesapeake! Cool evenings, reasonable winds, waterfowl moving through - Lots of fun to be on the water as the sun sets.
The winds died off slowly last night as the race proceeded allowing the rich to get richer, but it was still great to be out there. Our numbers are starting to dwindle a bit as we get late in the season, but there was still a respectable number of boats racing. A few more spectators too.
Congratulations to Kimber Rosswork and crew on the Viper 640. They took off on the first leg and lead everyone into the finish after. Congratulations to Don Elliott and crew on Starstruck too. The Star class had all kinds of position changes, but Don picked up a lead early and held on to it with everyone close on his tail. Congrats to Ful Dek as well - excellent racing as usual. An early lead kept them out of the fray at the first windward mark as four other boats jockeyed for second (including fun port-tack approaches!). The video is fun to watch.
