It was a nice night when we started. Okay it was actually very hot, but at least the wind was blowing - at the start.
Set up a nice long course, watched the wind get squirrelly just before the start like it always does, and then sent everyone off to race the Miles River. The nice wind that we had in the harbor apparently did not work its way down to Oak Creek. Slowly, the evening turned into a drifter.
The Stars managed to finish just as the wind was dropping out in the harbor. Congratulations to Will Murdoch and Carl Langkammerer on Wish for a break-away finish. In the dying winds, we shortened course for the PHRF boats to Deep Water Point. Coming in first for PHRF A was Rick Morgan and the crew of Evil Woman and finishing first in PHRF B was Jeff Pevey and the crew of Ful Dek. Congratulations to everyone for fast sailing in light air and strong currents!
By the end of the night, there was not a breath of air left on the water.
